Ha, see what I did there? Okay, good. I whipped up this header in Photoshop this afternoon, and I think it’s way more fun (and much more me) than anything ready-made.

I’m sure I’ll be touching it up and trying new things with it in the next few days. I just really wanted something neat but basic for the time being.

See? Hard at work on new stuff already...

Okay, so I did say that I have never been much of a diary-keeper. This is a fact about moi.

After a bit of a false start within the blogosphere, I’m going to really really attempt to get into a groove of writing a new post every few days or so.

Instead of, you know, like every two weeks. My bad.

So I had been waiting for the NFL Draft with mixed emotions: I want OU (my alma mater, BOOMER SOONER!) to totally dominate the first round, but doing so would mean that our best players would be going to the the absolute worst franchises.

Inevitably, Sam Bradford was drafted first to the St. Louis Rams (1-15 last season). Sure, he’s going to be a mulitmillionaire now and he’s most likely set for life so long as he doesn’t get injured….but is he going to a team that will give him no opportunities to showcase his abilities? I have faith that Sammy B. will shine no matter what, but I can’t sincerely believe that he can make the Rams a household name in the fall all by his lonesome.

The third pick was Gerald McCoy, who gets to go play pirates of the Caribbean with Tampa Bay. Right after, Trent Williams gets ready to the Washington Redskins. All in all, impressive standing for Oklahoma and the Big 12 – DT Ndamukong Suh from Nebraska is heading to the Detroit Lions as the No. 2 pick!

I am in no way claiming to be a football guru. Most of the time I’m that person at the watch party asking people to “explain what just happened, and why the clock stopped again,” but when you go to OU for 4 years, there is no way you can get away from becoming completely immersed in the football culture that pervades every inch of Norman from Spring training to BCS bowl season. It becomes a part of you that you can’t shake or ignore.

And now, little pieces of that unshakable feeling are going all over the country. I can’t lie, it’s a little saddening to think that these guys won’t be at Owen field ever again like they were the last few years…

On the contrary though: looks like I just became a Rams, Bucs, and Redskins fan. The fall can’t come soon enough!
